The Haitian Alliance for Community Action, Inc. (HACA) was founded in 2009 by HaitianAmericans determined to help families living in extreme poverty in the rural communitiessouth of Pétion-Ville, Haiti. What began as a shared commitment to serve has growninto a lasting mission of providing healthcare, education, and hope.Over the years, HACA has made a meaningful difference by opening an outpatient clinicthat served hundreds of patients through local Haitian physicians and volunteer HaitianAmerican doctors, providing annual food and school supply distributions to hundreds offamilies, and supporting children orphaned by Haiti's 2010 earthquake.Education remains at the heart of our work. Since launching our scholarship program in2014, HACA has helped dozens of children attend school, with 15 graduates alreadycompleting their studies. Many have continued into vocational training, while our newestgraduates are preparing for university careers in law, accounting, and business. For just$550 a year, a child can receive the education that opens the door to a brighter future.In 2019, HACA launched Nurses for Hope, an initiative to bring lifesaving healthcare toisolated mountain communities where medical care is often hours away. By training andsupporting local nurses, we are expanding access to preventive care, emergencyservices, and health education where it is needed most.Every milestone in HACA's history has been made possible by the generosity of donorsand volunteers. Together, we are creating healthier communities, expanding educationalopportunities, and giving Haitian children and families the chance to build a brighterfuture.Today, the need is greater than ever. Thousands of children still lack access toeducation, and many families in rural Haiti remain without nearby healthcare.
