Events

HACA will be hosting quarterly leadership and civic engagement community meetings with known leaders and public figures. The purpose of the meetings will be to:

1. Expose members of the community to leaders and public figures,
2. For public figures to hear and learn about concerns and aspirations of the members of the Hispanic community,
3. To foster civic engagement
4. To educate.

2008

October 9 - Hispanic Heritage Month Observance at Ft. Richardson - Past President Erick Cordero will be the keynote speaker at the event.  Location and time TBA.

September 14 - Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Event - Please join HACA and the Anchorage Museum at the free family kickoff event of Hispanic Heritage month! There will be entertainment and an opportunity to learn from many Hispanic cultures. Click here for the flyer.  The event is from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Anchorage Museum. 

May 16 - US House Candidates Forum - HACA will host a US House Candidates Forum open to the general public on Friday, May 16 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Community Center. Moderators Agelina Estrada Burney and Arthur Sosa will ask different questions to each candidate about immigration, education, healthcare and the economy. Press release here.

April 29 - Dialogue on Race & Diversity - St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 5:30 p.m. in Anchorage. Erick Cordero Giorgana, panelist.

April 19 - Meeting with Sen. Ted Stevens - HACA and community leaders to discuss issues of importance to the Hispanic community in Anchorage.

Several HACA board members and other community leaders met Sen. Ted Stevens to discuss several issues of importance to the Hispanic community in Alaska.

 

 

 

 

March 29 - Meet Carol Comeau, Anchorage School District Superintendent - HACA is proud to sponsor a community event to talk about education,the Anchorage School District, your concerns and questions and leadership. The meeting will be at one the conference rooms at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3900 Wisconsin St. in Anchorage, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Flyer.

January 20 - Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at the Performing Arts Center - Angelina Estrada Burney & Erick Cordero, speech. From 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

September 17 - Kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month at Municipality of Anchorage - Erick Cordero, brief remarks 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the lobby of the Municipal building.
